To amend the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act to require retail sales agencies and instrumentalities to disclose unit retail prices of consumer commodities, and for other purposes.
Unit Pricing Act - Provides that no person engaged in business in the sale at retail of any packaged consumer commodity which has been distributed in commerce, or the distribution of which affects commerce, shall sell, offer for sale, or display for sale any such commodity unless such person discloses the unit price of such commodity in accordance with instructions contained in this Act.
Sets forth exemptions to the requirement of display of unit price, including: (1) prepackaged food items containing separately identifiable items which are separated by physical divisions; (2) items for sale only by prescription; and (3) items sold from vendings machines. Exempts from display requirement a closely held retail sales agency which meets specified restrictions with respect to sales.
