Amends Title XIX (Medicaid) of the Social Security Act to permit State Medicaid plans to provide medical assistance for qualified former Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients.
Defines "qualified former Supplemental Security Income recipient" as an individual who: (1) received SSI benefits for a period of 12 months or more due to disability; (2) no longer qualified for such benefits because he has worked longer than the nine month period allowed under the trial work program; (3) earns income which does not exceed the median income level of the State in which he resides; and (4) has insufficient income or resources to meet his medical expenses and cannot purchase health care insurance due to his disability.
