A bill to establish a nonprofit center for long-term environmental research.
Long-Term Environmental Research Act - Authorizes the creation of a National Center for Long-Term Environmental Research as a nonprofit corporation. Stipulates that the incorporators of the Center shall consist of the Director of the National Science Foundation, the Chairman of the Council on Environmental Quality, the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Directs the Center to identify, develop, and recommend long-term alternative research priorities and policies for dealing with environmental problems. Requires public disclosure of the activities of the Center.
Authorizes the appropriation of $50,000,000 for expenses of the Center for each of fiscal years 1978 through 1982. Requires an annual audit of the finances of the Center and an annual report of the Center's activities to the President and the Congress.
