A bill to amend title 18, United States Code, and title 23, District of Columbia Code, to grant to courts power to deny pretrial release to persons charged with the commission of certain crimes of violence.

Empowers a judicial officer of a Federal or District of Columbia court to deny pretrial release to a person charged with a violent crime upon finding that no conditions of release can reasonably assure that such person will not flee or pose a danger to any other person or to the community.
