A bill to protect the safety and welfare of American workers by providing for a uniform system of identification for all receptacles containing compressed gas.
Compressed Gas Act - Directs the Secretary of Transportation to prescribe rules specifying the color code to be used with respect to each type of gas receptacle, and the manner in which each marking is to be displayed.
Establishes criminal penalties for: (1) filling any receptacle with gas unless the receptacle bears the proper color code marking; (2) removing or obliterating any color code marking; or (3) introducing into commerce any receptacle containing gas which is not in compliance with this Act.
Permits the Secretary to conduct examinations and investigations for the purpose of enforcing this Act.
