A bill to establish the Congressional Casework Office.
Congressional Casework Act - Establishes the Congressional Casework Office to provide computerized assistance to Members and committees of Congress in connection with their requests and inquiries to various executive agencies, and public, private, profit, and nonprofit organizations which provide services under Federally funded programs. Directs the Congressional Casework Office to coordinate existing information systems, and collect and compile statistical information on the interrelationships of Members and committees of Congress and the respective executive agencies in connection with the discharge of legislative and other official duties. Stipulates that such statistical information be transmitted to Members of Congress, committees, subcommittees, appropriate executive agencies, and the Office of Management and Budget at least once every six months. Directs the Office to report weekly by automated retrieval processes, to the appropriate Member or committee of Congress, the progress and action taken on their requests.
Authorizes the Director of the Congressional Casework Office to utilize the services of executive agencies without reimbursement. Directs the head of any executive agency to furnish any constituent information necessary any for the Office to fulfill its duties.
Authorizes appropriations necessary to carry out the purpose of this Act.
