Increases by 20 percent the food stamp allotment under the Food Stamp Act for eligible households in which one or more members require a special diet as the result of health problems.
States that coupon allotments shall be made available through Post offices, banks, credit unions, and other similar institutions.
Increases the Federal share from 50 to 65 percent of State administrative expenses in carrying out the Food Stamp program.
Authorizes additional appropriations of $20,000,000 per fiscal year to assist State agencies to employ unemployed individuals necessary to expedite the acceptance, processing, and approval or disapproval of applications for participation in the food stamp program.
