A bill to create a temporary program, as an emergency measure during the current period of high unemployment, in order to assure continued health care for unemployed persons and their families; and for this purpose to provide for continuation of coverage under employer programs of health insurance for their employees, and Federal financing from general revenues to meet the cost of such continued coverage.
Emergency Health Insurance Extension Act - Stipulates, under the Public Health Service Act, that every individual who is receiving benefits under any Federal or State unemployment compensation law and who, at the time of termination of his employment, was covered under an employer health insurance plan for employees, and the members of his family if included in such coverage, shall be entitled to a continuation of such insurance.
Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare to pay the premiums for such insurance, under specified terms and conditions, until June 30, 1976.
Authorizes appropriations necessary to carry out this Act.
