A bill to provide an alternative to the salary equivalence standard for determining the reasonable costs of services furnished by independent practitioners of physical therapy to medicare beneficiaries.

Amends Title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act to establish a method of charging for the services of independent practitioners of physical therapy as an alternative to the salary equivalence standard in current use for determining the charges for services provided by physical therapists who are employees of the provider of services claiming reimbursement under the Medicare program.
