Permits the principal presidential candidates to submit the names of possible candidates for Vice President to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for an inquiry into character and past activities of potential nominees.
Makes provisions for maintaining secrecy surrounding the investigation.
Allows the results of the investigation to be released only to the winner of the Presidential nomination and only with the consent of the person investigated. Requires the destruction of all evidence, information and records relating to potential Vice-Presidential nominees upon the nomination of a candidate. Sets criminal penalties for violations of this Act.
