A bill to authorize engineering investigation, stabilization, and rehabilitation of the Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel and the construction of facilities for the treatment of the drainage effluent.
Authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to rehabilitate the federally-owned Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel, Lake County, Colorado, by installing an appropriate tunnel section from the portal to structurally competent geologic formations.
Requires such activities to be carried out in consultation with the Governor of Colorado.
Authorizes to be appropriated $2, 750,000 for the rehabititation of the tunnel. Authorizes such additional sums as are necessary for maintenance, and for investigations of the tunnel and the water quality of tunnel discharges.
