A bill to establish a program for the removal of drift and debris from publicly maintained commercial boat harbors of the United States and from the land and water areas immediately adjacent thereto.
Harbor Drift Removal Act - Declares that the purpose of this Act is to reduce and remove drift and debris from publicly maintained commercial boat harbors of the United States and from the land and water areas immediately adjacent.
Provides that the Secretary of the Army, acting through the Chief of Engineers, shall be responsible for developing projects for such removal.
Sets the Federal share at 75 percent of the total cost of any project.
Authorizes the Secretary to undertake projects without specific congressional approval when the total Federal cost for the project is less than $400,000.
Authorizes to be appropriated an additional $11,700,000 for the removal of drift from the New York harbor.
