A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to authorize the provision of intermediate care services under medicare.

Provides for intermediate care services or extended care services for up to 100 days during any spell of illness under title XVIII of the Social Security Act (Hospital Insurance for the Aged). Reduces the amount payable for intermediate care services or extended care services by a specified coinsurance amount. Sets forth the conditions and limitations on payment for intermediate or extended care services. Sets for the definition of the terms "intermediate care facility "and" intermediate care services" for the purposes of this Act. Provides for conforming technical amendments. Sets forth the procedure for payment of claims of providers of intermediate nursing care. Authorizes to be appropriated from general revenues of the Government to the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund and to the Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund for each fiscal year, beginning with 1974, such amounts as may be necessary to reimburse such trust funds for 100 percent of the expenditures required to be made from such trust funds to carry out this Act.
