A bill to require that certain information about gasoline be disclosed to consumers.
Octane Disclosure Act - Makes it unlawful for any gasoline retailer to fail to display conspicuously the octane rating of any gasoline dispensed through pumps.
Directs the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct inspections to enforce the provisions of this Act. Imposes a civil penalty of $100 for each day of violation of this Act.
Makes it unlawful for any person engaged in the business of selling gasoline for resale or distribution to fail to certify in writing at the time of delivery the octane rating of such gasoline.
Makes unlawful for automobile manufacturers to fail to disclose the minimum appropriate octane rating for such automobile.
Directs the Federal Trade Commission to establish standard methods for calculating octane rating and methodologies and procedures for testing and assuring purity and content of gasoline.
Makes a violation of this Act an unfair or deceptive act or practice within the meaning of the Federal Trade Commission Act.
