A bill to regulate commerce by providing annual awards to individuals who advance science and technology through remarkable and notable inventions and discoveries.
Science and Technology Awards Act - Directs the Secretary of Commerce to establish a National Science and Technology Awards Council to conduct a program of cash awards for technological developments. Specifies the members of such Council.
Requires the Council, prior to the close of each calendar year, to select that person, if any, who merits a cash award, which shall be more than $5000, but less than $150,000. Limits the number of such awards to ten.
Declares any amount received under this Act to be exempt from any Federal, State, or local income tax.
Authorizes to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out this Act.
