Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare to designate an official name for any new drug subject to prescription sale and for all drugs presently subject to such sale, within one year after the date of enactment of this Act. Provides that drugs labeled or advertised by any name other than the official name shall be deemed to be misbranded.
Authorizes the Secretary to exempt drugs from carrying the official name for one year in order to avoid confusion or to permit the orderly transition to revised labeling.
Requires that drug labels be printed in type which is conspicuous.
