Provides, under the Public Health Service Act, that the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare may make grants to and enter into contracts with public or nonprofit entities for the purposes of developing or operating programs for the training of nurse practioniers with special emphasis on nursing homes and the care of the aged.
States that on or before March 1, 1975, after consultation with appropriate educational organizations and professional nursing and medical organizations, the Secretary shall prescribe program guidelines for nurse practicioners. Sets forth minimum guidelines, including a program of classroom instruction and supervised clinical practice aimed toward preparing nurses to delivery primary health care.
Authorizes to be appropriated for the purposes of making payments under grants and contracts $5,000,000 for fiscal year 1975, and $7,500,000 for fiscal year 1976. $5,000,000 for fiscal year 1975 and $7,500,000 for fiscal year 1976.
