Authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to employ, under such regulations as he may prescribe and without regard to the civil service laws, individuals to carry out an intensified forest improvement program. States that such program shall be aimed at control of the mountain pine beetle and other forest management purposes as the Secretary may deem desirable in national forests located in the States of South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas.
Prescribes eligibility requirements for individuals working on such projects. Places responsibility for administering the program with the Secretary. Authorizes the Secretary, with specified limitations, to extend the provisions of this Act to non-Federal public forest lands.
Authorizes the appropriation of $21,000,000 for fiscal years 1976 and 1977.
