A bill to authorize appropriations for increased investigation and prosecution by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice of unfair methods of competition, restraints of trade, and other violations of the antitrust laws.
Antitrust Enforcement Authorization Act - Authorizes the Federal Trade commission pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission Act to establish and fix the compensation for not more than 25 attorney, economist, special expert, and outside counsel positions for its maintaining competition responsibilities. Authorizes appropriations through fiscal year 1978 for such purpose. Authorizes appropriations for such period to the Justice Department for the purpose of permitting the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division to establish and fix the compensation for not more than 25 similar positions.
Authorizes the Attorney General to provide assistance and make grants to States which have State plans approved udner this Act to improve the antitrust enforcement capability of such States. Sets forth requirements for such plans and for payout procedures for such assistance and grants. Authorizes appropriations for such assistance and grants through fiscal year 1978.
