A bill to amend title II of the Social Security Act to provide full benefits for disabled wives, husbands, widows, and widowers without regard to age, to provide benefits for essential spouses of disability beneficiaries without regard to age or children in care, to provide child's benefits on the wage record of a supporting relative in certain cases, to provide dependent's and survivor's benefits for certain additional relatives of an insured individual, to provide for the computation of a couple's benefits on their combined earnings record, to liberalize eligibility for disability benefits and expedite certain disability-related determinations, to repeal the earnings test.
Social Security Amendments - Provides full benefits under title II (Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance) of the Social Security Act for disabled wives, husbands, widows, and widowers without respect to age. Authorizes benefits for essential spouses of disability beneficiaries without regard to age or children in care. Provides child's benefits on the wage record of a supporting relative provided such child has been receiving over one-half his support from such relative for a continuous period of at least one year.
Permits dependent's and survivor's benefits for additional specified relatives of an insured individual if such relative was dependent and receiving at least one-half his support from such insured individual. Provides that the computation of benefits under title II for a couple shall be determined on the basis of their combined earnings record. Liberalizes the eligibility standards for disability benefits.
States that eligibility for disability benefits shall be made without regard to the number of recent guarters of coverage. Repeals the earnings test standard for eligibility for benefits under title II.
Authorizes optional coverage for mothers of preschool children under the self- employed individual insurance program.
Grants eligibility to illegitimate children for child's insurance benefits under specified circumstances.
