A bill to amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to establish the National Resources and Materials Information System. economy.
Authorizes the National Commission on Supplies and Shortages to establish the National Resources and Materials Information System to be headed by an Administrator to study the materials and resources supply and consumption patterns of the United States and other nations, and to coordinate the resources and materials information collection activites of other Federal agencies.
National Resources and Materials Information Act - Authorizes the President to transfer to the System resources and materials information activities being carried on in other Federal agencies.
Directs the Administrator to establish interagency advisory bodies to assist in carrying out this Act.
Imposes criminal penalties for unauthorized disclosures or theft of information.
Requires the Administrator to promulgate regulations for the acquisition and designation categories. Defines specified types of categories.
Requires the Administrator to make periodic reports to the Commission, the Congress and the public.
Authorizes the acquisition of information from specified institutions outside the Federal Government, including foreign countries, universities, foundations, and the business sector.
Directs the Secretary of the Interior to make a survey of the resources contained in the public lands of the United States.
Authorizes to be appropriated $15,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 1976, 1977, and 1978.
