Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare, under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, to provide financial assistance for the establishment of a National Center for Asian Studies within any nonprofit institution or organization.
Stipulates that the National Center shall be a national research and resource center for academic education in Asian history, language, and culture and for development of programs in Asian studies in elementary and secondary education, in order to bring such studies on a par with studies of Western civilization.
Requires the Secretary to appoint a panel of scholars, students, and members of the public to advise him on the Center.
Authorizes to be appropriated $10,000,000 for fiscal year 1976, $15,000,000 for fiscal year 1977, $20,000,000 for fiscal 1978, $25,000,000 for fiscal year 1979, and such sums as are necessary to carry out this Act for each succeding fiscal year.
