Acupuncture Research Act - Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare, during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1975, and the next two fiscal years, to undertake a concerted program of reserach and investigation into the practice of acupuncture in order to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture as a dependable and useful medical procedure and to assess the limitations and risks involved in acupuncture. Provides that in carrying out such program the Secretary may make grants to public and nonprofit entities for the conduct of such parts of the program as the Secretary determines appropriate.
Directs the Secretary to prepare and submit to the President for transmittal to the Congress on or before July 1, 1975, an interim report on the results of the program undertaken under this Act. Directs the Secretary to prepare and submit to the President for transmittal to the Congress on or before December 31, 1977, a final report on the results of the program. Provides that such final report shall contain such recommendations for legislation as the Secretary determines appropriate.
Authorizes the appropriation of $3,000,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1975, $4,000,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1976, and $5,000,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1977 to carry out programs under this Act.
