States that for the purpose of maintaining law and order and to protect persons and property within Indian country, the Secretary of the Interior may charge any officers or employees of the Department of the Interior with law enforcement responsibilities. Permits such officers to exercise specified authority, including authority to: (1) carry firearms; (2) execute warrants; and (3) perform any other law enforcement duty that the Secretary of the Interior may designate.
Authorizes the Secretary to publish such rules and regulations as he may deem necessary or proper for the maintenance of law and order in Indian country. States that violations of such rules shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment for not more than one year, or both.
