A bill to improve existing tertiary eye centers, to examine the delivery of eye care to the general public, and to study the feasibility of implementing a system of tertiary eye care centers throughout the United States.
Tertiary Eye Center Act - States that there is a need for improvement in eye care facilities in this Nation. Defines terms as used in this Act.
Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare to identify tertiary eye care centers that need upgrading. Authorizes the Secretary to make grants to accomplish such goal.
Provides that the Secretary shall create a commission to assess the present state of eye care facilities in the United States and develop plans for upgrading and expanding such facilities.
Requires that the commission submit to the Secretary and the President a final report, and such interim reports as are necessary.
Authorizes the appropriation of $21,000,000 to carry out the purposes of this Act.
