A bill to require candidates for Federal office, Members of the Congress, and officers and employees of the United States to file statements with the Comptroller General with respect to their income and financial transactions.
Financial Disclosure Act - Requires candidates for Federal office, Members of the Congress, and officers and employees of the United States compensated at or above the GS-16 rate or pay grade 0-7 (in the case of members of the uniformed service) to file annual reports containing a full and complete statement of: (1) the amount and source of each item of income or gift in excess of $500; (2) each asset which has a value in excess of $5,000; (3) any securities transactions in excess of $1,000; (4) all transactions in commodities in excess of $1,000; and (5) any purchase or sale of real property involving in excess of $5,000.
Provides criminal penalties for any person willfully failing to file a report required by this Act.
Authorizes such reports to be available for inspection by members of the public.
