Authorizes the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, or any subcommittee thereof, from March 1, 1973, through February 28, 1974, in conducting studies and investigations for the purposes stated and within the limitations imposed by the following sections of this resolution: (1) to make expenditures from the contingent fund of the Senate; (2) to employ personnel; and (3) with the prior consent of the Government department or agency concerned and the Committee on Rules and Administration, to use on a reimbursable basis the services of personnel of any such department or agency.
Limits the expenses of the committee under this resolution to not exceed $660,000.
Provides that not to exceed $320,000 shall be available for a study or investigation of: (1) banking and currency generally; (2) financial aid to commerce and industry; (3) deposit insurance; (4) the Federal Reserve System, including monetary and credit policies; (5) economic stabilization, production, and mobilization; (6) valuation and revaluation of the dollar; (7) prices of commodities, rents, and services; (8) securities and exchange regulations; (9) credit problems of small business; and (10) international finance through agencies within legislative jurisdiction of the committee.
Provides that not to exceed $210,000 shall be available for a study or investigation of public and private housing and urban affairs generally; and that not to exceed $130,000 shall be available for an inquiry and investigation pertaining to the securities industry.
Requires the committee to report its findings, together with such recommendations for legislation as it deems advisable with respect to each study or investigation for which expenditure is authorized by this resolution, to the Senate at the earliest practicable date, but not later than February 28, 1974.
