Establishes the American Indian Policy Review Commission. States that the Commission shall perform specified functions including: (1) studying the legal aspects, policies, and procedures with respect to the relationship between the Federal Governnment and Indian Tribes; (2) compilation of data for the understanding of Indian needs; (3) consideration of methods to strengthen tribal governments while preserving individual rights; and (4) recommendations to carry out the policy and purposes of this Act.
Directs the Commission to appoint investigating task forces (to be composed primarily of Indians) to make preliminary investigations and studies in the various areas of Indian affairs.
Provides that the Commission shall submit its final report to the Congress not later than six months after the reports of the investigating task forces are filed.
Authorizes to be appropriated a sum not to exceed $2,500,000 to carry out the provisions of this Act.
