An original bill to increase the availability of urgently needed mortgage credit for the financing of housing.
Emergency Housing Finance Act - Authorizes the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation to purchase, and make commitments to purchase residential mortgages from any Federal home loan bank, the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, any member of a Federal home loan bank, or any other financial institution the deposits or accounts of which are insured by an agency of the United States.
Sets forth downpayment requirements and maximum mortgage amounts under Federal Housing Administration Programs. Increases the maximum mortgage amounts under FHA one-to-four family mortgage insurance programs and multifamily mortgage insurance programs.
Authorizes appropriations for community development and housing programs, including the model cities and rent supplement programs.
