A bill to amend the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 to apply the NASA to the solution of domestic problems, and for other purposes.
Science and Technology Applications Act - Establishes in the Executive Office of the President a Council of Advisers on Science and Technology. Sets forth the membership composition of the Council. Provides that it shall be the duty and function of the Council to serve as a source of scientific and technological analysis and judgement for the President with respect to major policies, plans, and programs of science and technology of the Federal Government.
Establishes the Federal Coordinating Committee for Science and Technology. Sets forth the membership composition of the Committee. Provides that it shall be the function of the Committee to consider problems and developments in the fields of science and technology and related activities affecting more than one Federal agency, and to recommend policies and other measures: (1) to provide more effective planning and administration of Federal scientific and technological programs; (2) to identify research needs; (3) to achieve more effective utilization of the scientific and technological resources and facilities of Federal agencies; and (4) to further international cooperation in science and technology.
Authorizes an appropriation to the Council of Advisers on Science and Technology not in excess of $4,000,000 for fiscal year 1975 to carry out its functions under this Act.
