A bill to amend the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 to provide for the coordinated application of technology to civilian needs in the area of Earth resources survey systems, to establish within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration an Office of Earth Resources Survey Systems, and for other purposes.
Earth Resources Survey Systems Act - Title I: Short Title; Declaration of Policy; and Findings - Sets forth the policy and findings of Congress, including that earth resources management is a pressing area of public need and more effective utilization of new technology is both desirable and feasible.
Title II: Amendment to the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 - Provides for the establishment of the Office of Earth Resources Survey Systems, to be responsible for: (1) consultation with all interested agencies, to ascertain the needs for information on the quality and quantity of earth resources; and (2) planning, research, design, and development of earth resources satellite systems. Sets forth the definitions of terms used in this Act.
Title III: Authorization - Authorizes to be appropriated to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for use by the Office of Earth Resources Survey Systems for research and development, $50,000,000.
