A bill exempting State lotteries from certain Federal prohibitions.
State Lottery Exemption Act - Provides that the U.S. criminal laws shall not apply with respect to any lottery, sweepstakes, or wagering pool conducted by any agency of a State acting under authority of State law. Exempts from the wagering tax under the Internal Revenue code any wager placed in a sweepstakes, wagering pool, or lottery which is conducted by an agency of a State acting under authority of State law, but only if such wager is placed with the State agency conducting such sweepstakes, wagering pool, or lottery, or with its authorized employees or agents. Exempts vending machines utilized in the operation of State conducted lotteries, sweepstakes, and wagering pools from an occupational tax under the Internal Revenue Code.
Provides that the applicable U.S. postal laws shall not apply to any lottery, gift enterprise, or scheme for the distribution of money or of real or personal property by lottery, chance, or drawing of any kind conducted by any agency of a State acting under authority of State law.
