A bill to extend the Drug Abuse Education Act of 1970 for 3 years.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Education Act Amendments - Directs the Commissioner of Education to carry out a program of making grants to, and contracts with institutions of higher education, State and local educational agencies, and public and private education or community agencies, institutions, and organizations to support and evaluate demonstration projects, to encourage the establishment of such projects throughout the Nation, to train educational and community personnel, and to provide technical assistance in program, development.
Permits not in excess of 10 percent of the funds appropriated to carry out this Act to be used for the payment of reasonable and necessary expenses of State educational agencies in planning, development and implementation of drug and alcohol abuse education programs.
Sets forth procedures for obtaining funds authorized under this Act.
Authorizes the Commission to use not in excess of one percent of the available funds for independent analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of programs assisted under this Act.
Authorizes appropriations to carry out the purposes of this Act.
