A bill to amend title II of the Social Security Act to provide that the surviving spouse of a deceased insured individual must have paid or assumed responsibility for such individual's burial expenses in order to qualify for the lump-sum death payment.

Provides that the surviving spouse of a deceased insured individual must have paid or assumed responsibility for such individual's burial expenses in order to qualify for the lump-sum death payment under title II of the Social Security Act (Old-Age, Survivors' and Disability Insurance). (Amends 42 U.S.C. 402(i))
