A bill to provide for the regulation of the practice of dentistry, including the examination, licensure, registration, and regulation of dentists and dental hygienists, in the District of Columbia, and for other purposes.
District of Columbia Dental Practice Act - Creates the District of Columbia Board of Dental Examiners. Authorizes the Board to promulgate such rules, regulations and procedures as it deems necessary relating to the professional and technical aspects of the examining, licensing, registration and regulation of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and the practice of dentistry in the District of Columbia.
Sets forth licensing requirements for persons engaged in the practice of dentistry, and for dental hygienists in the District of Columbia. Requires an annual renewal certificate for license holders.
Defines dental hygienists and dental assistants as persons who perform their duties under the general direction and supervision of a dentist who is available in person on the premises where such persons are performing.
Provides for the formation of nonprofit corporations to underwrite the costs of professional services of persons licensed under this Act.
Authorizes the appropriation out of the revenues of the District of Columbia such funds as may be necessary to pay the expense of administering this Act.
