A bill to amend the Communications Act of 1934 in order to provide that licenses for the operation of a broadcasting station shall be issued for a term of 5 years.

States that any license granted for the operation of a broadcasting station, under the Communications Act of 1924, shall be for a term of five years, and that no license granted for any other class of station shall be for a longer term than five years.

Provides that, upon the expiration of any license, upon application therefor, a renewal of such license may be granted from time to time for a term of five years in the case of any broadcasting license, and not to exceed five years in the case of other licenses, if the Federal Communications Commission finds that public interest, convenience, and necessity would be served thereby.
