A bill to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to include a definition of food supplements, and for other purposes.
Food Supplement Amendment - Defines the term "food supplement" for purposes of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act to mean food for special dietary uses, and defines the meaning of "special dietary uses" as particular uses of food for man which meets specified requirements.
Prohibits the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare from limiting the potency, number, combination, amount, or variety of any synthetic or natural vitamin, mineral, or other nutritional substance or ingredient of any food for special dietary used if the amount recommended to be consumed does not ordinarily render it injurious to health.
