Provides that each member of the Armed Forces shall be examined in an Armed Forces medical facility near the time of his scheduled release from active duty for the purpose of determining whether or not he is a narcotic addict.
Provides that if any member is, as a result of such examination, found to be a narcotic addict, such member shall not be released from active duty and shall be immediately placed in an Armed Forces hospital for treatment of his addition, or the custody of the Suregeon General of the Public Health Service for treatment of his addiction in a hospital of the Service.
Provides that such an addict may be released from active duty if he gives assurances that he will undergo private treatment for his addiction.
