To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to prohibit the placement of a photograph of any household member on an electronic benefit card used by such household to purchase food with supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits provided under such Act.
No Photo for Food Act of 2023
This bill revises provisions related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to prohibit a state from requiring a photograph of any household member on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. Under current law, a state may require that an EBT card contain a photo of one or more members of a SNAP household.
As background, SNAP provides federally funded benefits (not the same as cash) on EBT cards to eligible households to purchase eligible food items from authorized retailers.
