To amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to allow the use of requirements payments to conduct a post-election audit with respect to an election for Federal office in a State.
Federal Election Audit Act
This bill allows states to use requirements payments from the Election Assistance Commission to conduct postelection audits. In particular, a state may use such a payment to conduct and publish an audit of (1) the effectiveness and accuracy of the voting systems, election procedures, and outcomes used to carry out a federal election in the state; and (2) the performance of the state and local election officials who carried out the election.
Referred to the Committee on House Administration, and in addition to the Committees on the Judiciary, Oversight and Accountability, Science, Space, and Technology, Ways and Means, and Education and the Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
