A bill to deter foreign interference in United States elections, and for other purposes.
Defending Elections from Threats by Establishing Redlines Act of 2019
This bill requires the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to report on foreign interference in elections and requires the President to impose sanctions if such interference occurred. Additionally, the President must make various reports, including on foreign interference in elections and the net worth of certain Russian officials.
Referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and in addition to the Committees on Intelligence (Permanent Select), the Judiciary, Financial Services, Ways and Means, and Rules, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
