To amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to limit the authority of State election officials to remove registrants from the official list of eligible voters in elections for Federal office in the State on the basis of interstate cross-checks, and for other purposes.
Voter Roll Integrity Act of 2017
This bill requires states to obtain certain information before removing a registrant from the official list of eligible voters for federal elections when the removal is based on cross-checking voter information with other states. The bill also requires (1) the state to notify a registrant of the pending removal; and (2) the removal to be completed no later than six months before an election, where currently a removal may be completed 90 days before.
