TSA Administrator Modernization Act of 2017
This bill codifies the transfer of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from the Department of Transportation to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
(Sec. 2) The bill amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to: (1) decrease from 12 to 11 the maximum number of Assistant Secretary positions in DHS, and (2) include the Administrator of the TSA among the DHS officers to be appointed by the President. The Administrator shall be appointed as the head of the TSA for a five-year term as a Level IV position in the Executive Schedule.
