To protect the legal production, purchase, and possession of marijuana by Indian tribes, and for other purposes.
Tribal Marijuana Sovereignty Act of 2016
This bill prohibits consideration of an entity's authorization under federal, state, or tribal law to produce, purchase, or possess marijuana when: (1) allocating, distributing, or determining eligibility for, federal benefits; or (2) determining eligibility for or compliance with a contract, grant, or agreement under which such activities would otherwise be disqualifying. The bill applies to an Indian tribe's, a member of a tribe's, or a tribal entity's authorization to conduct such activities on land owned by the tribe, held in trust for the tribe, or conveyed to an Alaska Native Corporation.Introduced in House
