To prevent certain monitoring and interception by Federal authorities of Federal prisoner communications that are subject to attorney-client privilege.
Effective Assistance of Counsel in the Digital Era Act of 2016
This bill prohibits any person acting under the authority of the United States from monitoring any electronic communication by a prisoner in a Bureau of Prisons correctional facility if such communication is subject to attorney-client privilege. This does not apply to any communications the Department of Justice has reason to believe pose a threat to national security.
