To establish the United States comprehensive strategy for assistance to developing countries to achieve food and nutrition security, increase sustainable and equitable agricultural development, reduce hunger, improve nutrition, and develop rural infrastructure and stimulate rural economies, and for other purposes.
Global Food Security Act of 2013 - Directs the President to designate an individual to serve as the Special Coordinator for Food, Nutrition, and Agricultural Development to: (1) advise the President on global food security, nutrition security, and agricultural development; and (2) ensure coordination of related U.S. programs.
Makes the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) the lead agency in implementing a comprehensive food security, nutrition security, and agricultural development strategy. Sets forth the elements of such strategy.
Amends the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 to revise bilateral agriculture, rural development, and nutrition assistance programs.
