To clarify the use of Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants for corrections and community corrections programs, to enhance the data made available by the National Adult and Juvenile Offender Reentry Resource Center, and for other purposes.
Delivering Effective Training and Enforcement Resources (DETER) Act of 2008 - Amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to: (1) include the use of global positioning monitoring technologies to monitor individuals on parole and probation and the hiring of additional parole officers as permissible corrections grant purposes under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program; and (2) provide funding under the grant program to establish the National Adult and Juvenile Offender Reentry Resource Center for collecting and disseminating information on laws relating to and grants for parole and probation agencies and officers.
