A bill to amend the Small Business Act, to reform and reauthorize the National Veterans Business Development Corporation, and for other purposes.
Veterans Corporation Reauthorization Act of 2006 - Amends the Small Business Act to make it the principal purpose of the Veterans Corporation to establish and maintain a national network of information and assistance centers for use by veterans and the public.
Revises requirements for appointment of voting members of the Board of the Corporation. Shortens the term of appointment from six to four years. Provides for removal of a Board member deemed unable to fulfill his or her duties.
Postpones from October 1, 2006, to October 1, 2009, the date upon which the Corporation shall assume the duties of the Advisory Committee on Veterans Affairs.
Extends the authorization of appropriations. Revises grant matching requirements, establishing limitations on the Corporation's nonfederal sources of revenue.
Directs the Corporation to develop and implement a plan to raise private funds and become a self-sustaining corporation within six months after enactment of this Act.
