To assure equitable treatment in health care coverage of prescription drugs under group health plans, health insurance coverage, Medicare and Medicaid managed care arrangements, Medigap insurance coverage, and health plans under the Federal employees' health benefits program (FEHBP).
Prescription Drug Benefit Equity Act of 2006 - Amends the Public Health Service Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, the Internal Revenue Code, titles XVIII (Medicare) and XIX (Medicaid) of the Social Security Act, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) to require a group health plan, and a health insurance issuer offering group health insurance coverage, that provide for mail-order prescription drug coverage also to provide non-mail-order prescription drug coverage. Applies such requirement to coverage offered in the individual market in the same manner as it applies to coverage offered in the small or large group market.
