To amend title 46, United States Code, to treat as a passenger vessel any vessel having berth or stateroom accommodations for more than 399 passengers, to require that such a vessel be equipped with a voyage data recorder, and to ensure reliable medical testing of vessel pilots, and for other purposes.
Ferry Safety Enhancement Act of 2005 - Amends Federal shipping law to treat as a passenger vessel any vessel that carries more than 399 passengers.
Directs the Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating to: (1) prescribe regulations that require such passenger vessels be equipped with a voyage data recorder; and (2) require vessel pilots to submit their annual physical examination results to the Coast Guard. Sets forth a criminal penalty for persons who falsify physical examination reports.
